Parent-Tutor Meeting Questions

A strong tutoring plan starts with clear expectations. Use these questions during a consultation or first progress call so you understand the plan, communication cadence, and early success signals.

Tutor Fit

  • What experience do you have with this grade level and subject?
  • How do you adjust when a student is anxious, avoidant, or overconfident?
  • What does a productive first month usually look like?

Learning Plan

  • How will you identify the missing skill or habit behind the current challenge?
  • What will be practiced during sessions versus at home?
  • How will you balance homework help with long-term skill building?

Progress Reporting

  • How often will parents receive updates?
  • What metrics or examples will you share?
  • When should we change the plan if progress stalls?

Decision Rule

Choose the tutor or program that can explain the plan in plain language, describe how progress will be measured, and tell you what will happen if the first strategy does not work.
